FEEDING_LOG_01172013
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS

FEEDING LOGS ARE AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY TO STAFF LEVEL 3 AND ABOVE
You have just stumbled upon a strange and highly classified tape. Be cautious as you pause, play, and fast-forward the video–the creatures within don’t take kindly to being documented.
Note: This game makes heavy use of spatial audio and generally involves a lot of very close listening. Headphones are strongly recommended.
Created by Olly Glenn for Ludum Dare Compo 50. Check out a behind-the-scenes post here to see how I did the audio!

Hints if you’re having trouble
Each time you die you unlock a new entry in the help menu. If you still want to try to figure things out on your own, start there.
- Listen carefully for Alpha as he scrapes his way around the room. If you hear Alpha breathing and clicking, it means he’s close enough to kill you and you need to pause the tape.
- Beta only kills you if you take more than 5 minutes to get to him. Don’t worry if you hear him banging around before then.
- When you feed Beta near the end of the tape, it mollifies him completely. Beta will not attack after this point.
- Alpha moves slower than you think, but will make a beeline for you if he hears you moving. If you pause the tape to avoid Alpha, don’t unpause until you hear him move away.
- In the same vein, if you unpause too soon Alpha will hear you, turn around, and come back.
- The slow-motion button is great for sneaking past Alpha, but it won’t save you if you run into him.
- Be careful with the fast-forward button. Alpha can hear you use it from across the room and will probably start making his way toward you once you press it.
- Alpha is not active until he breaks out of his cage.
Stay calm and take it slow. Surviving to the end of the tape is not an easy feat.

I'm sad for you if someone stole your game. I'm really sad if you just created the HTML version for our jam.
The judges for our jam really liked it.
Huh. Well, I guess I’m flattered that someone liked my game enough to plagiarize it! Thanks for letting me know, I’ll report it now.
You’re welcome. Great game!
Pomni I snorted a full case of coke and I'm feeling the effects
EXTREMELY simplistic horror game. That's what makes it special, the mechanic and concept is what makes this truly shine. Very well made and can be pretty scary ! Good job !
I made a video on your game if you're interested :)holy sheets of A4 paper this is AMAZING
I would totally play a fully expanded universe of this so please keep up the great work!!
i dont do horror well alone so i could only watch Manly play it but holy crap this "game" is absolutely amazing and I REALLY hope you all continue to expand on this storyline and world, I love stuff like this! It's like a super botched SCP foundation and I REALLY love that concept
I love how different this game is! What you hear can be so much creepier than what you see and this really took me by surprise :) First game of the video.
Anyone else not seeing the tape play with with the video? only the audio and hud? on Mac btw
The mac build is kinda jank because I don't have a Mac, so I wasn't able to test it beyond phoning up one of my friends and asking him if the game opened. I remember seeing a similar bug when I tried to make builds of Unity games with videos in them for Linux--the video players just wouldn't work and I couldn't find any way to fix it. It seems like it's some underlying problem with Unity itself. That's why this game doesn't have a Linux version >:(
My best guess is that the Mac version of the game isn't playing nice with whatever version of Mac OS you have, and there isn't really a quick fix for that (which MAJORLY sucks, I've been struggling with this issue forever)
You might be able to use something like Wine (https://www.winehq.org/) to play the Windows version on a Mac. I can't guarantee that it'll be perfect, but back when I had a Mac I would use Wine to play Windows games and it worked pretty well!
Thanks for checking out FEEDING_LOG!
Trying to download on mac but it keeps giving me an error saying it can't check for malicious software. How can I get access to play?
try to open the game and then after the message pops up press ok then go straight to System preference -> Security & Privacy and then you should see a message saying something like "Feeding log could not be open cause couldn't be checked for malware" and then click open anyway.
I love it!
Game looks really interesting! Any way you can make a Mac version?
Yup! Just added it
I looooooved this
